ofMoncton,NewBrunswick, and
Dr.EdmundO’Neill
ofKingston,Ontario.
Throughhis engagementwith thedental
communityat theprovincial andnational
levels,
Dr. Brown
has servedhisprofession
withdistinction.Hewaspresidentof the
NewBrunswickDental Society in2000-01,
chairof itsBoardofDirectors from2001-08,
andmemberof theMediationandDiscipline
committee formanyyears. At thenational
level,Dr. Brown represented the interestsofNew
Brunswickdentistson theCDABoardofDirectors
for 6years. In2014, hewasawardedHonorary
Membership in theNewBrunswickDental Society,
itshighest level of recognition. Inhisacceptance
speech,Dr. Brown thankedhiswife,Dr.Mary
AnnWiseman, presidentof theNationalDental
ExaminingBoardofCanada,whosecommitment to
organizeddentistrymatcheshisown.
MaryAnnhas been involved inorganizeddentistryalmost as longas Ihave so sheunderstands the time
commitments, butmore importantly, how rewarding it is to contribute to theprofession.”

Dr.O’Neill
playedan instrumental role in
establishing theCrawfordDental Collection
as apermanent collectionwithin the
MuseumofHealthCare inKingston.
Dr. O’Neillwas involved inbringingDr. Ralph
andOlgaCrawford’s collectionof dental
artifacts andmemorabiliaout of storage
andensuring itwouldbepreservedandmade
available to thepublic. Tofindapermanent home
for thecollection, hemobilized support from the
local dental andmedical communities andchaired
acommitteeof theKingstonDental Society
dedicated to thisgoal. Healsoensured that the
storiesbehindmanyof theartifacts, as toldbyDr.
Crawford,werecaptured for futuregenerations.
Through theseefforts, Dr. O’Neill hasmadean
invaluablecontribution that honours thehistoryof
thedental profession.
