Canadian Dental Association Validates Advil PLUS Acetaminophen for Dental Pain Relief
June 9, 2025 - Ottawa, ON: The Canadian Dental Association (CDA) has awarded the CDA Seal to Advil® PLUS Acetaminophen (APA), making it the first analgesic to receive this prestigious recognition. The Seal confirms that Advil PLUS Acetaminophen provides fast, effective relief of dental pain for up to 8 hours.
Advil PLUS Acetaminophen provides 250mg of ibuprofen and 500mg of acetaminophen per dose. By combining the benefits of both ibuprofen and acetaminophen, APA offers a safer solution for acute dental pain. In addition to dental pain, it is also indicated for the relief of various conditions including headaches, muscle and joint pain, backaches, menstrual pain, and fever reduction.
Over-the-counter products like ibuprofen and acetaminophen are widely recognized as safe alternatives to opioids1 2, which carry significant risks such as addiction, overdose, and other serious side effects. The combination of ibuprofen and acetaminophen in APA can provide effective pain relief without addiction risks.
“The CDA Seal helps consumers recognize which oral health product claims are supported by scientific evidence and also supports dental professionals in making informed recommendations for their patients’ unique oral care needs,” said CDA President, Dr. Bruce Ward. “We are pleased to award Advil PLUS Acetaminophen with the Seal. This product provides a fast and effective solution for dental pain.”
Established in the 1970s, the CDA Seal was initially designed to help the public and dental professionals make informed choices by providing information on the therapeutic value of certain toothpastes. Over the years, the program has expanded to educate consumers on the oral health benefits of a variety of products.
