The Canadian Forces Dental Services (CFDS) held a Change of Appointment Ceremony of the Colonel Commandant in October. The incoming Dental Corps Colonel Commandant is Brigadier-General (Retired) Victor Lanctis. He becomes the 13th Colonel Commandant, taking over the ceremonial position from Colonel (Retired) John Currah. Commodore Hans Jung, the Commander of Canadian Forces Health Services Group and Surgeon General of the Canadian Forces, was the presiding officer at the ceremony.

The CFDS Colonel Commandant is an honorary appointment granted by the Minister of National Defence, on the recommendation of the Director Dental Services, to a distinguished former officer of the Canadian Forces. The Colonel Commandant acts as an ambassador for the Dental Corps and frequently attends events and ceremonies to foster esprit de corps.
