From Coverage to Care: An Evidence-Informed Assessment of the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)

About this paper

From Coverage to Care: An Evidence-Informed Assessment of the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is CDA's first comprehensive assessment of how the CDCP is working two and a half years into delivery. Drawing on patient, dentist, employer and program evidence, it identifies what is working, where barriers remain and more than 30 practical recommendations to strengthen the program for patients.

Our goal

The CDCP marks historic progress: for the first time, the federal government is providing dental coverage on a national scale. From Coverage to Care examines what the program has achieved for patients, where barriers remain and how it can be strengthened. Through this comprehensive assessment, CDA aims to help shape a sustainable, patient-centred program that consistently translates coverage into accessible, equitable, timely, clinically suitable and affordable oral health care for all patients it is intended to serve.
