Dr. Croutzemade sure tohighlight the
incrediblegenerosityandempathy shownby
thedental community. “Manydentists from
across thecountryhave stepped forward to
help thesenew refugees,” he says. “I however
wantedMPs tounderstand that relying
exclusivelyonprobono serviceswouldnot
be sufficient toaddress theoral healthneeds
of this cohort of newarrivals.”
CDA representativesmetwithbothvice-
chairsof theHouseof Commons Standing
CommitteeonCitizenshipand Immigration,
DavidTilsonand JennyKwan. These
meetings led toan invitation toappear
before thecommittee todiscuss the
settlement of Syrian refugees, andmore
specifically the IFHP. OnMay31, Dr. Croutze
providedanoverviewof theprogram
coverageand limitations, feedback from
membersof theprovincial associationsusing
the IFHP, and suggestionsonhow toaddress
inefficiencies. Thepresentationwaswell
received, and thecommittee requested that
CDA followupwithabrief outliningcurrent
issues and suggestions for improvement.

advocateonbehalf of both theSyrian
