Twoprojectsprovedparticularly successful
andwill be repeated in the future: the
National ForumofDentistryStudents, aweb
conferenceorganized for students todiscuss
challenges theyare facingand formulate
possible solutions, andavirtual townhall
meeting thatbrought together apanel of
expertsanddentistry students todiscuss
ethical cases.
Student representativesalsoestablished
twonewcommittees. TheDental Student
ConferenceCommitteewill be responsible
foroverseeingpreparations for anew
conference tobeheld in2018, and the
StudentWellnessCommitteewill address
students’ physical andemotionalwell-being.

where these topics, alongwithfinances
and internal andexternal communications,
werediscussed. External guests included
representatives from theAmericanStudent
DentalAssociation (ASDA), theStudent
ProfessionalismandEthicsAssociation
(SPEA), theAssociationofCanadianFaculties
ofDentistry (ACFD), theCanadianDental
RegulatoryAuthoritiesFederation, CDSPI,
and theNationalDental ExaminingBoard
(NDEB).
Continuing towork toward its visionof
creatinga “nationally integratedcommunity
enhancing the student experience in
thedental profession,” theFCDSA
will focuson sixpriorityprojects in theyear
ahead:
• Development of a sustainable
financialmodel
• Representationat keyevents
• Websiteconsolidation
• Issuemanagement
• Dental student conference
• Studentwellness
TheFCDSAmeetingwas also theoccasion
