Dr.NeilGajjarAppointed
Vice-Presidentof theAcademy
ofGeneralDentistry
Dr.NeilGajjar ofMississauga,
Ontario, recently became
vice-president of theAcademy of
GeneralDentistry (AGD,
anassociation representing
more than40,000 general
dentists acrossNorth
America.
“Beingelectedas vice- president is trulyanhonour and
privilege,” says Dr. Gajjar. “Wehavea lot ofworkahead
of us,which I amconfidentwewill accomplishwith the
great team, staff, and support of ourmembers.”
AnativeofNewfoundland, Dr. Gajjar obtainedhis
DDS from theHowardUniversityCollegeofDentistry
in Washington, D.C., in1999. He thenmovedback to
Canadaand startedpractising inMississauga. Inaddition
tomaintainingaprivatepractice, Dr. Gajjar is aclinical
instructor inoral diagnosis and radiologywith the
Universityof Toronto. Hehas alsobeena lecturer inoral
andmaxillofacial pathologyandaclinical instructorwith
theCanadianAcademyofDental Hygiene.
Dr. Gajjar hasbeenactively involved inorganized
dentistry formanyyears andhas served invarious
capacitieswith theOntarioDental Association, the
CanadianDental ProtectiveAssociation, theSouthAsian
Dental Association, theRoyal CollegeofDental Surgeons
ofOntario, theNational Dental ExaminingBoardof
Canada, theAcademyofDentistry International, CDA
andAGD.
Dr. Gajjar has received several accolades in recognition
of hisdedication toadvancing theprofession. He is a
fellowof theAcademyofDentistry International, the
PierreFauchardAcademy, the International Collegeof
Dentists and theAmericanCollegeofDentists.

A1995graduate fromDalhousie
University, Dr. Preston later
pursued specialty studies
inprosthodontics at the
Universityof Toronto. He
maintainsprosthodontics
clinics inbothFrederictonandSaint John.
Dr. Preston is amember of theFrederictonDental
Societyandhasbeenactively involvedwith theNBDS
formanyyears. He is alsocurrentlyanexaminer in
prosthodontics for theRoyal CollegeofDentistsofCanada.

one-year term.
TheColeHarbour dentist
receivedhisDDS from
DalhousieUniversity
in1987. After briefly
practising inOttawa, he
returned tohishome
provincewherehenow
maintains ageneral practicewithhiswife,
Dr. LaurieCampbell-Bonang.
Inaddition tobeingactively involved inprovincial
organizeddentistry, Dr. Bonang is thedirector of events
and fundraisingwebsiteswithCraig’sCausePancreatic
Cancer Society.
