as the journal’s editor. “The
boardsof the IADRand the
AADRwereconcernedbe-
cause researchfindings rarely
translate intochange in the
communityand improvement
inhealth,” sheexplains. “We
want tomake that change
happen, becauseoral health
careprovidersneedevidence
to support theirwork in
preventingoral diseaseand
providingcare.”
To strengthen theevidence
base, thenew journalwill
publish studies at all levels
of evidence, aswell as those
using researchapproaches
that arecommonlyapplied in
other fieldsbut not tradition-
allyused indentistry, suchas
qualitativeandparticipatory
research. “Weare initiating
direct communications
between theclinical and
researchcommunities, so
that researcherswill bemore
awareof the typeof informa-
tionneededbyoral health
careproviders, policymakers
and thepublic,” saysDr. Feine.
