Cover Artist: Dr. William H. ChristieDr. William H. Christie of Winnipeg, Manitoba, is an avid photographer and nature lover. One of the finer examples of his work graces the cover of this issue of JCDA — it's a photo of a common loon on a floating muskeg nest, taken in June 2001 on Red Rock Lake in Manitoba's Whiteshell Provincial Park. Shutterbugs should note that Dr. Christie used Fujicolor asa 200 film and a 500-mm f8 Nikon lens on a tripod to achieve these marvelous results.Dr. Christie has a cottage in ‘Dark Sky Country' and enjoys taking shots of the comets, stars and aurora borealis. He is not one to rest on his laurels and is still waiting for that elusive “perfect composition.”
