The Journal is the authoritative written voice of the Canadian Dental Association providing dialogue between the national association and the dental community. It is dedicated to publishing worthy scientific and clinical articles and informing dentists of issues significant to the profession.
Welcome to the on-line version of the Journal of the Canadian Dental Association. The Journal, which has been published since 1935, is Canada's only national, peer-reviewed dental publication. Appearing 11 times per year, CDA's flagship publication provides a window to the best scientific and clinical material produced by Canada's dental profession.
The Journal now appears in a combined print / on-line format. This initiative will make our publication much more interactive for readers. Through this site, you can now read abstracts, selected full-text articles and editorials, as well as contact us with your comments, suggestions and queries on-line. In addition, CDA members can request literature searches from our Resource Centre. We also provide hot links to other prestige dental and medical journals. If you are thinking of writing an article for the Journal, you can fine tune your writing skills by consulting our "Information for Authors" section. In time, we hope to host discussion groups at this site.
The business of biomedical publishing is changing rapidly. Practitioners receive a glut of printed material every day, and the World Wide Web has quickened the exchange of information immeasurably. There are some who claim that the traditional dental journal has no future. I beg to differ. There has never been a greater need for sound leadership in dental publishing, and we at the Canadian Dental Association intend to continue to provide sound scientific and clinical information, based on the best available evidence.
I hope you find the on-line version of the Journal interesting and useful. I invite you to contact me with your comments, suggestions and criticisms.
