Solar Powered New Brunswick Dental Practice Installs Solar Panels When the new building for Bailey Buckley Family Dentistry in Quispamsis, New Brunswick, broke ground in April 2020, the contractors told the practice’s co‑owners that the location was optimal for solar power. D r. Ron Buckley and Dr. Janet Bailey met at dental school at Dalhousie. Drs. Nicola andTatum Buckley, two of four children, both attended the same school years later, eventually moving back to New Brunswick to work alongside their parents. Recently, the two sisters became the practice owners and decided to build a new location in Quispamsis. Dr. Nicola Buckley consulted with her sister and parents about the idea of installing solar panels on the roof connected to a solar storage system, which are batteries that function as back-up power. “The practice had occasionally experienced power outages in the past,” says Dr. Buckley. “So as business owners, we saw an immediate benefit to the investment. The power wouldn’t ever go out in the middle of root canal procedure again.” Dr. Tatum Buckley (l.) and Dr. Nicola Buckley co-own their practice. (L. to r.): Drs. Ron Buckley, Tatum Buckley, Nicola Buckley, and Janet Bailey. 27 Issue 5 | 2021 |
