D r. John P. Zarb is the new registrar of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (RCDC), a regulatory college that administers examinations for qualified dental specialists. Dr. Zarb’s career has included clinical and academic positions in Canada and the US; he has taught at the University of Toronto, the University of Illinois at Chicago, and the University of Rochester, Eastman Institute for Oral Health. Dr. Zarb owns Barrie Dental Specialists in Barrie, Ontario, and volunteers as a staff prosthodontist at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. The RCDC expressed gratitude tooutgoing registrar Dr. Leland McFadden. New InterimDirector of CDAC I n April, Ms. Lee Callan was named interim director of the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada (CDAC). Callan has been with CDAC for almost 20 years and has experience coordinating and attending survey visits, reviewing accreditation requirements, reviewing and writing survey reports, representing CDAC on various committees, and communicating with stakeholders. In a press release, Dr. Amarjit Rihal, chair of CDAC, wrote that as the organization has dealt with the pandemic, Callan's determination and passion have been invaluable. Getting them to tell us what’s going to work for them. Then, if it is within our ability to meet it, that’s amazing. If not, it’s our choice,” says Dr. Friedman.
