Is There an Association between Maternal Periodontitis and Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes?

Pregnancy is a normal physiological process that may sometimes result in adverse events like preterm birth, low birth weight (LBW) and/or pre-eclampsia. A multitude of risk factors may increase the incidence of these adverse pregnancy outcomes (APOs), including maternal periodontitis.

Letter: Financial Recruitment Incentive Programs for Dentists in Newfoundland and Labrador

Identifying effective means to recruit dentists to rural communities is an ongoing priority for the profession. In Newfoundland and Labrador, rural communities (population less than 10,000), are home to over 40% of the population, but only a much smaller percentage of the province’s 185 dentists practice in remote areas.
