Applications are invited for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, Department of Dental Diagnostic & Surgical Sciences, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Manitoba. Commence on January 1, 2014. Must have recognized specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Possession or acquisition of Fellowship in the Royal College of Dentists of Canada in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (www.rcdc.ca). A Master’s degree, PhD or M.D. will be assets. The candidate must be eligible to register as a Specialist and license in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with the Manitoba Dental Association.

Responsibilities include undergraduate, post-graduate and graduate teaching, clinical instruction and supervision, and will be expected to take trauma on call. The candidate will be expected to obtain a “Medical Staff Appointment” from the WRHA. Candidates must be eligible for licensure with the Manitoba Dental Association in one of its dental specialist licensing categories (www.manitobadentist.ca).

The Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery teaches and coordinates Undergraduate Courses in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Pain and Anxiety Control, Medicine, and Hospital Dentistry. The Division also directs the one-year Dental Internship Program and the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgical Residency/Graduate Program. The full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is practiced and the Graduate Program’s faculty and residents are involved in the treatment of high patient volumes in maxillofacial trauma and orthognathic surgery.

Licensing of a specialist REQUIRES the successful completion of the FRCDC examination. As a requirement for employment all staff must submit a Child Abuse Registry check.
