CDA Secure Send is an easy, simple- to-use system that allows dentists to exchange patient information and documents (including X-rays) in a secure fashion. Exchanging patient information using email— with specialists, physicians, or patients— violates a patient’s right to privacy and doesn’t adhere to the many data privacy requirements outlined by dental regulators and in privacy legislation. CDA Secure Send meets the legal obligation to safeguard the confidentiality of patient data—which is especially useful for dentists when making a referral to a specialist. To find a fellow dentist or specialist to communicate with using CDA Secure Send, consult the CDA Canadian Dentist Directory , a feature exclusive to CDA Secure Send users. All general dentists and specialists that have a CDA account will be listed in this directory. If you can’t find a colleague on this list, you can simply add their email address manually. The recipient receives a link that would allow them to securely download your message and any attached files. To encourage more specialists to subscribe to CDA Secure Send, CDA has produced a fact sheet that dentists can send out to their roster of referrals. This document, available on the CDA Secure Send section of the CDA website, outlines the benefits and simplicity of the service. CDA Secure Send is included with your provincial or territorial dental association membership. There is no additional cost for you or your staff.
