Dr. RobertDorion, acertified forensic
odontologist, approachedand
recruited several LSJMLexperts to
participate in theevent. Ameeting
was thenheldwithPascalMireault,
LSJMLdirector of forensicmedicine
and toxicology, andYves “Bob”Dufour,
LSJMLdirector general, todiscuss the
organizationof theconference. Among
other things, theyconsidered the legal
implicationsof holdinganevent of
this type.
Theone-dayconferencewasheld
onMay24, 2014,within thecontext
of the JDIQ, andwas anunqualified
success. Dr. Desranleau isparticularly
grateful for the support andgenerosity
shownbyhis colleagues: “I amvery
proudof theworkaccomplished
byall thosewhocontributed to this
conference, especially theLSJML team,
which—onceagain—devoted itself
wholeheartedly to thecauseof Lac-
Mégantic.”
Inall, 94people signedup for the
fundraisingconference, enabling the
organizers to raise$20,000. “Iwouldbe
remiss if I didnot thank thedentists
andother professionalswhoattended
theconference.Without them,we
wouldnot be inaposition to support
thecommunityof Lac-Mégantic,”
