Teaching Resources

These children activities and teaching resources have been provided to promote the importance of oral health to children in a fun way. Parents and teachers are welcome to download and use this material.

Helpful Tips for Healthy Smiles at Halloween – This Halloween, make sure your children have a healthy and fun time trick-or-treating. CDA has prepared some Halloween tips to help you protect your child's smile and offers a “Spooktacular Smiles” fill-in-the-blanks activity that will help your child learn important tips about good oral health.

Smile Certificate – Losing a tooth is an important sign that children are growing up. With parental permission, CDA's "Tooth Fairy" will send a smile certificate in recognition of this special event.

EggSperiment Activity – This experiment shows how you can help lock in the calcium in an eggshell, and your teeth, by protecting them with a fluoride toothpaste (adult supervision recommended).

Games and Activities – Educational games and activities designed for children.

Jokes and Trivia – Silly jokes and oral health trivia that teachers and parents can share with children.

Resources on Early Childhood Tooth Decay – Resources from the Manitoba Collaborative Project for the Prevention of Early Childhood Tooth Decay.

Healthy Teeth – This website features animated graphics, easy-to-understand text and simple classroom experiments for teachers, parents and their children. The Healthy Teeth website is produced by the Nova Scotia Dental Association with the assistance of CDA and the Halifax County Dental Society.
