CDA Position Statements

The Canadian Dental Association is dedicated to providing up-to-date information on issues that affect oral health and the practice of dentistry.

As part of this commitment, CDA develops Position Statements aimed at providing clarification on issues when there are varying points of view.

Developed and updated by CDA committees, and approved by CDA's Board of Directors, these Position Statements contain background information and evidence-based support of the Association's stated position on various issues.

CDA’s definition of oral health:

Oral health is a state of the oral and related tissues and structures that contribute positively to physical, mental and social well-being and the enjoyment of life’s possibilities, by allowing the individual to speak, eat and socialize unhindered by pain, discomfort or embarrassment.
