Background

Founded in 1902, the Canadian Dental Association (CDA) is a non-profit professional association representing Canada's dentists. Since its inception, the Association has played a key role in the oral health of Canadians.

Located in Ottawa, CDA works with Canada’s provincial and territorial dental associations and societies (see below) to administer programs that promote oral health for Canadians.  CDA also manages programs related to dental education, patient awareness and advocacy work on issues that pertain to oral health and dentistry in Canada.

CDA is actively involved with lobbying and advocacy initiatives, and uses its leadership role to communicate the professions’ concerns regarding dental care and oral health issues to the public and the federal government. The Association’s positions are built on sound scientific and clinical research.
